Glass Fiber Filter Tape Roll
Filter tape for beta‑attenuation particulate monitors
60-day and 90-day rolls · standard and high‑strength · made in Japan
Glass fiber filter tape for continuous ambient air monitoring of suspended particulate matter (SPM / PM2.5). Standard 30 mm tape width and 40.5 mm core, applicable to beta‑attenuation particulate monitors such as BAM‑1020 and E‑BAM. Four codes cover both measurement cycles and both strength grades.
How to choose
Three questions decide the code
Tell us the monitor model you operate and the dimensions of the tape you use now, and we will confirm the matching code for you.
01 / CYCLE
Measurement cycle
Tape length sets how often a station has to be visited. The 90 day roll reduces changeovers — useful where sites are remote or unattended.
- 60 day → 21 m
- 90 day → 31 m
02 / STRENGTH
Strength grade
During long unattended runs the transport mechanism can put unexpected tension on the tape. The high‑strength grade raises tensile strength without changing collection performance.
- Standard → GF-21M / GF-31M
- High-strength → GF-21MS / GF-31MS
03 / FIT
Dimensional fit
Standard geometry for beta‑attenuation monitors. A starter tab on the outer wrap makes the roll easy to draw out when loading.
- Width 30 ±0.5 mm
- Core I.D. 40.5 ±0.5 mm
Line-up
Four codes
One roll per retail box, 60 boxes per carton. Manufactured in Japan.
| Code | Name | Size | Core I.D. | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GF-21M | 60 Day Supply | 30 ±0.5 mm × 21+2 m | 40.5 ±0.5 mm | Standard |
| GF-31M | 90 Day Supply | 30 ±0.5 mm × 31+2 m | 40.5 ±0.5 mm | Standard |
| GF-21MS | 60 Day Supply High-Strength | 30 ±0.5 mm × 21+2 m | 40.5 ±0.5 mm | High-strength |
| GF-31MS | 90 Day Supply High-Strength | 30 ±0.5 mm × 31+2 m | 40.5 ±0.5 mm | High-strength |
Length is stated as nominal plus tolerance: 21+2 m / −0 m means 21 m minimum, 23 m maximum.

Specification
Criterion values are common to all four codes. The right-hand column is a measured result for the high‑strength code GF‑31MS, where tensile strength is more than double the criterion.
| Testing item | Unit | Criterion value | GF-31MS result | Method |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basis weight | g/m² | 49 ±7 | 44 | JIS P 8124 |
| Thickness | mm | 0.14 ±0.03 | 0.15 | JIS P 8118 (micrometer) |
| Pressure drop (2.4 m/s) | kPa | ≤ 20.0 | 16.8 | Differential pressure at face velocity 2.4 m/s |
| 0.3 µm PAO collection efficiency | % | ≥ 99.9 | 99.948 | Polyalphaolefin particles, face velocity 0.05 m/s |
| Tensile strength | N | ≥ 7.8 | 16.3 | JIS P 8113 (15 mm, machine direction) |
| Water repellency | kPa | ≥ 4.9 | 9.8 | Hydrostatic pressure at water breakthrough |
Measured results are those published in our datasheet dated 17 May 2024. Lot-specific inspection certificates are available on request.
High-strength grade
Built for runs you cannot interrupt
A tape break in the middle of a measurement cycle costs you the data for that cycle and a site visit to recover. The high‑strength grade was developed for exactly that failure mode: the glass fiber and binder composition was revised to raise tensile strength while leaving basis weight, pressure drop and collection efficiency within the same criterion values.
The benefit grows with the cost of a site visit — unattended stations, mountain or coastal sites, and networks maintained by a small team.
FAQ
Frequently asked
Will it fit the monitor we already operate?
The tape is the standard geometry for beta‑attenuation particulate monitors: 30 ±0.5 mm wide on a 40.5 ±0.5 mm core. Send us the monitor model and the part number and dimensions of the tape you use now, and we will confirm before you order.
Which cycle length should we order?
The difference is tape length — 21 m for 60-day operation, 31 m for 90-day. Choose 90 day to cut the number of changeovers; choose 60 day if the monitor’s take-up capacity is limited.
Does the high-strength grade collect differently?
No. Basis weight, thickness, pressure drop and 0.3 µm PAO collection efficiency share the same criterion values as the standard grade. Only tensile strength is raised.
Can you supply inspection certificates and SDS?
Yes. Lot-based inspection certificates and Safety Data Sheets are available in English. Please state your requirement when you contact us.
How is the lot number formatted?
Eight digits: year (last digit), month (two digits), day (two digits), then a three-digit control number.
Do you export, and can you handle private labeling?
Yes to both. We have shipped to customers in Asia and can supply plain or customer-specified box labeling. Tell us the destination, annual volume and labeling requirement.
Talk to us about your monitoring network
Send the monitor model, the tape part number you currently use, and your annual volume. We will confirm the matching code, quote, and advise on lead time. Sample rolls are available for evaluation.
