Glass Fiber Filter Tape Roll
Filter tape for beta‑attenuation particulate monitors
60 day and 90 day rolls · standard and high‑strength · made in Japan
This is glass fiber filter tape for continuous monitoring of particulate matter in ambient air (SPM / PM2.5).
The tape is 30 mm wide. The core is 40.5 mm. It fits beta‑attenuation monitors such as BAM‑1020 and E‑BAM.
Four codes cover two cycle lengths and two strength grades.
How to choose
Three questions decide the code
Tell us the monitor you operate and the size of the tape you use now. We will confirm which code matches.
01 / CYCLE
Measurement cycle
The length of the tape decides how often someone must visit the station. With the 90 day roll, the tape is changed less often. This helps when a station is far away or has no staff.
- 60 day → 21 m
- 90 day → 31 m
02 / STRENGTH
Strength grade
During a long unattended run, the transport mechanism can pull on the tape. The high‑strength grade has higher tensile strength. Collection performance does not change.
- Standard → GF-21M / GF-31M
- High-strength → GF-21MS / GF-31MS
03 / FIT
Dimensional fit
Standard geometry for beta‑attenuation monitors. A starter tab on the outer wrap makes the roll easy to draw out when you load it.
- Width 30 ±0.5 mm
- Core I.D. 40.5 ±0.5 mm
Line-up
Four codes
One roll per retail box. 60 boxes per carton. Manufactured in Japan.
| Code | Name | Size | Core I.D. | Grade |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GF-21M | 60 Day Supply | 30 ±0.5 mm × 21+2 m | 40.5 ±0.5 mm | Standard |
| GF-31M | 90 Day Supply | 30 ±0.5 mm × 31+2 m | 40.5 ±0.5 mm | Standard |
| GF-21MS | 60 Day Supply High-Strength | 30 ±0.5 mm × 21+2 m | 40.5 ±0.5 mm | High-strength |
| GF-31MS | 90 Day Supply High-Strength | 30 ±0.5 mm × 31+2 m | 40.5 ±0.5 mm | High-strength |
“21+2 m” means the roll is 21 m at minimum and 23 m at maximum.

Specification
The criterion value is the value every roll must meet. It is the same for all four codes. The right column shows a measured result for one code, GF‑31MS.
| Testing item | Unit | Criterion | GF-31MS result | Method |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basis weight | g/m² | 49 ±7 | 44 | JIS P 8124 |
| Thickness | mm | 0.14 ±0.03 | 0.15 | JIS P 8118 (micrometer) |
| Pressure drop (2.4 m/s) | kPa | ≤ 20.0 | 16.8 | Differential pressure at face velocity 2.4 m/s |
| 0.3 µm PAO collection efficiency | % | ≥ 99.9 | 99.948 | Polyalphaolefin particles, face velocity 0.05 m/s |
| Tensile strength | N | ≥ 7.8 | 16.3 | JIS P 8113 (15 mm, machine direction) |
| Water repellency | kPa | ≥ 4.9 | 9.8 | Hydrostatic pressure at water breakthrough |
The measured results are those published in the product datasheet dated 17 May 2024.

High-strength grade
For runs you cannot interrupt
If the tape breaks in the middle of a measurement cycle, you lose the data for that cycle. Someone must also go to the site to fix it.
The high‑strength grade is made for this failure mode. Its glass fiber and binder composition gives a higher tensile strength. Basis weight, pressure drop and collection efficiency stay within the same criterion values.
This matters most when a site visit is expensive: unattended stations, mountain or coastal sites, and networks run by a small team.
FAQ
Frequently asked
Will it fit the monitor we already operate?
In most cases, yes. The tape is 30 mm wide with a 40.5 mm core, which is the standard geometry for beta‑attenuation monitors. Send us your monitor model and the size of your current tape, and we will confirm.
Which cycle length should we order?
Choose by how often you can visit the station. 21 m covers about 60 days. 31 m covers about 90 days.
Does the high-strength grade collect differently?
No. Only the tensile strength is higher. Basis weight, pressure drop and collection efficiency stay within the same criterion values.
Can you supply inspection certificates and SDS?
Yes, in English. Tell us the code and the lot, and we will send them.
Talk to us about your monitoring network
Send us three things: the monitor model, the tape part number you use now, and your annual volume. We will confirm the matching code, send a quotation, and tell you the lead time. Sample rolls are available for evaluation.
